POTD – Money Pouch
The Chinese like to disguise their preference for monetary gifts by creating these cute money packages. It looks like an ordinary ornament, but hidden in the back, a pocket, perfectly sized for some bills. Growing up, my little sister loved these ornaments and claimed all as hers! Somehow I managed to obtain one from my parents, and I haven’t disclosed their true function to the kids.

Best Shot Monday – Ice Cold
Tracey asked how the weather was in our area. I think this sums up last week’s frigid temperatures and its impact on our little water garden in the back.
And how did that pine cone get into the pond? Probably those 60mph winds!
Go check out the other Best Shot Monday Entries.
POTD – Guitar Repairs
At the company holiday party last night, the featured after dinner entertainment consisted of a local band, “The Duelin’ Hillbillies”. Truthfully, I didn’t expect much (I’m not a country fan by any means), but these guys were decent – their lead singer had a great voice, and no performance antics. [Last year, we were subjected to an Elvis impersonator]
Leaving early, we walked out the north entrance of the hall, walked about 10 steps when I peaked back into the performance to catch the lead singer frantically re-stringing his guitar in the middle of a song.
I guess the incident happened in the 30 seconds or so it took us to walk out and down the hallway. The rest of the band was still playing, so it is true when they say “the show must go on”.

Spyer3 Color Calibrator
After I posted Monday’s pictures of my daughter’s nail polish, I noticed a definite yellow cast when I viewed the pictures from another computer. Some of my printed pictures look similar – a bit on the yellow side, a little dark. So I decided it was time I bought a screen calibration kit.
The Spyder3 Express was recommended by several photogs on 2Peas, and it wasn’t too expensive (I think I paid $80, which included shipping). It showed my original screen to be on the bright and blue side, which made sense. I am hopeful this will improve the quality of my photos.
